The first step to install Komplete 12 is to connect the hard drive to your computer.
Then, you need to install Native Access. You can install Native Access from the included hard drive, OR download the latest version from Native Instruments here:
Open Native Access, and log in (or create an account if you don't have one). Then, you should be greeted with a window asking for your Komplete 12 serial number. If you are not, click the 'Register Serial Number' option at the top left.
Enter your serial number. You will find the serial number on the black card included in the box.
Once you register Komplete 12, it will be authorized for use on your computer and you will be able to install the included content.
You don't have to install everything if you don't want to, but most people will probably want everything, so all you need to do is click "Install All". Walk away for a few hours and Native Access will handle the installation for you.
BUT, before you install, make sure you setup your preferences.
You have the option to change where you want your sample libraries located, and the location of your VST plugins for example.
In general, it's a good idea to install the Content/Sample Libraries to a secondary hard drive. This can be a secondary internal drive or an external drive. Komplete 12 Ultimate Collector's Edition is over 630 GB's when fully installed, so make sure that the drive you choose has enough free space.
You should install the actual applications to the OS hard drive, but the sample content can be installed anywhere.
*The included hard drive CANNOT be used to run the sample libraries! It is ONLY included to install the content.
After everything is installed, click the 'Refresh' button. You will probably have a few more things to install that need to be downloaded.
Once everything is installed, you are good to go. All of your plugins will be authorized and be ready to use.
