The Huyang Cultural Festival, an annual event that started in 2009, is being celebrated to highlight the tree's beauty in the golden autumn in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. Tourists are flocking to the Huyang (Populus euphratica) forest to witness the striking golden hue spreading over 313,000 hectares, boasting both deserts and wetlands. The nine-day festival will come to an end on October 27, featuring local delicacies, dancing performances, running and cycling events, desert races, and a photography contest.
