SNOWSTORM MIRACLE: Crash into historic Old Yarmouth Inn leaves only minor dent in 324-year-old restaurant & tavern... [HN VIDEO] YARMOUTH PORT – The owner of the Old Yarmouth Inn was fast asleep across the street from the restaurant when he was awakened by the loud crash. Fearing the worst, Arpad Voros, owner of the 324-year-old inn, grabbed his flashlight and went out into the night to see if anyone had been hurt...
It was shortly after midnight and it had just begun to snow heavily. The roads were slippery and the Old Yarmouth Inn sits just east of a dangerous sharp curve on Route 6A.
The restaurant is surrounded with strategically placed boulders intended to prevent wayward vehicles from crashing into the historic tavern. But what Voros saw next must have been astonishing and huge relief, to say the least. The silver SUV had somehow “lost it” on the sharp curve, leaving the roadway before managing to spin completely around, “threading the needle,” landing backwards between two large protective boulders, after taking out some fencing, a large expensive sign, and an outdoor heat pump before just barely kissing the outer wall of the main building, leaving behind only a minor dent.
The driver was reportedly on her way to work an overnight shift and was not injured. She was also reportedly not impaired and the crash appears to have been caused by the slick road condition...
