Modified stiff-legged deadlift

Modified stiff-legged deadlift Modified stiff legged DL πŸ’ͺπŸ‘πŸ˜Š Here this exercise is modified by slightly moving out of a “neutral” spine position (some lumbar flexion) & a bit more knee flexion than most would have when doing stricter stiff legged DL. The goal here is to simulate a motor pattern that many use without thinking when flexing/bending over to pick something up off the floor.

Interestingly, there is increasing evidence now questioning the commonly held, deeply entrenched beliefs about lifting with a ‘bent’ spine and the risk of musculoskeletal back injury (Saraceni 2019). Interestingly, this study found that “there was low quality evidence that greater lumbar spine flexion during lifting was not a risk factor for LBP onset/persistence, nor a differentiator of people with and without LBP.”
