I teach you these four chords in this video:
I teach you how to quickly transition between these chords in this video:
STRUMMING PATTERNS
In all of my hundreds of tutorial videos, I stick to just 3 simple strum patterns:
1. Downstrum Strum Pattern (↓ ↓ ↓ ↓ ). I use this strum pattern for the mellower parts of songs. It can be done at a low-intensity with one strum per 1-2 measures (↓ ), at a medium-intensity with two strums per measure (↓ ↓ ), or at a high-intensity with a strum on every beat (↓ ↓ ↓ ↓ ).
2. Upstrum Strum Pattern ( ↑ ↑ ↑ ↑). I use this strum pattern for happy, carefree songs that remind me of reggae like any song from Bob Marley.
3. Upbeat Strum Pattern (↓ ↓↑ ↑↓↑). I use this strum pattern during the high-energy parts of a song. If a chord lasts for more than one measure, I’ll carry out the ↑↓↑ part of the strum pattern until I switch to the next chord (↓ ↓↑ ↑↓↑ ↑↓↑ ↑↓↑…). If a chord only lasts for half a measure, I’ll cut the strum pattern in half (↓ ↓↑). And if a chord lasts for a single measure, I will play it in the standard fashion (↓ ↓↑ ↑↓↑).
I really do stick to just these three Strum Patterns. I go through each one in-depth in this video:
