REACTION MATTERS PRESENTS: Boy Goes Missing While Playing, Then Investigators Check Cameras And See The Horrifying Truth
When a child goes missing, as a parent, your heart can't help but ache for the family going through this terrible nightmare. According to statistics, about 2 million children go missing every year in the world. Fortunately, about 96% of these kids are found without any sort of harm done to them, the other 4% sadly aren't as lucky as their statistic counterparts. But what happens when something like a camera or maybe a bystander, captures the exact events leading up until the very moment the child disappears? This sounds like a very important asset to have when trying to locate your missing child. However, sometimes people wish no such record of the events existed, because you might just see something that crushes any and all hope of ever seeing your beloved child ever again.
The event took place in the township of Lamontville which is located in Durban, South Africa. The township has a population of around 50,000 people and is a rather close-knit community despite its not so small population count. Typically in tight-knit communities, word tends to travel very fast and have such an immense impact should it be about anything remotely terrifying.
Eleven-year-old Khaye Buthelezi had been spending the entire day with one of his close friends he met at school. Since it was the weekend and the two of them had off school, they decided to meet up at Khaye's house so that they could play outside and maybe meet up with some other kids that also lived in the neighborhood. Any kid this age would agree that plans of this nature sounded normal and would translate to a fun time.
The two boys chose to play in Khaye's backyard for a little while before venturing off around the neighborhood seeing if any other kids they knew from school wanted to join them. After about an hour of doing this, both of the boys found themselves extremely thirsty and agreed that they needed something to drink before heading out into the neighborhood. So Khaye decided that he'd go into his house and bring out some water bottles for him and his friend to drink. But when Khaye returned to his backyard to give his friend the bottle of water, his friend was nowhere to be found. He looked around his backyard while calling his friend's name, but no one answered and he couldn't find him anywhere. The only thing left behind was a trail of flattened grass leading to a nearby stream.
Khaye decided the best course of action to take was to go looking around the neighborhood, maybe his friend got impatient and decided to venture off without him. But after searching nearby areas that his friend would have realistically reached in the time Khaye was gone, the results were still the same as before, no trace whatsoever of his friend. This caused Khaye to feel uneasy and concerned about the situation, so he went to go tell his parents about what's happening so that they could get in contact with his friend's parents.
Khaye, his parents, and his friend's parents all met in Khaye's backyard to try and come to a conclusion of what may have happened. Both sets of parents agreed that the police should now be involved, and proceeded to call them with all of the details they had. They also went and asked the neighbors that lived next door to Khaye if they had seen anything out of the ordinary. One of them had a wide-angled surveillance camera in their backyard that also was able to cover a big portion of Khaye's backyard. The neighbor offered to bring the camera footage over so that the parents could check if it showed anything that would help locate Khaye's friend.
They fast-forwarded the footage up until it showed the two boys stopped playing and Khaye went into his house to get them both water bottles. When Khaye went into his house, the camera footage showed his friend see something and walk to the edge of the property. His friend then stopped there and stared at whatever he was looking at. Then all of a sudden, something grabs him and pulls him out of view of the camera. After going back and watching that part over and over again, the exact moment Khaye's friend was grabbed is paused. It appeared to be a very large snake that grabbed him. Needless to say, both sets of parents were horrified at the thought of a young boy being grabbed by a snake that size.
