Featuring the IstanteCollective
Discover one of the most imaginative and peculiar European instruments: the nyckelharpa, a recently-rediscovered ancient fiddle from northern Europe. Evidence of this "keyed fiddle", or literally "keyed harp" can be traced back to medieval times. Conversely, the accordion bas been one of the most recent "folk" inventions-versatile and easy to transport. The first accordion patent was registered in Vienna in 1829.  Follow our journey through old Swedish dances and English folk tunes as well as newly composed melodies-some tunes that have travelled across countries and centuries and others which have been completely forgotten.
