Kill Bugs, Preserve Food with Carbon Dioxide [Food On A Boat]

Kill Bugs, Preserve Food with Carbon Dioxide [Food On A Boat] As part of our food preservation series, we thought we would share a novel way to keep your dry goods in good condition for a very long time. This is an experiment we are doing this year but we expect it should work well and it is easy and cheap: We are storing our dry food in a CO2 environment. This is great for anyone needing to keep foods fresh a long time, whether you are heading off on a long sailing trip or preparing for the zombie apocalypse.
This works by keeping your food away from oxygen and keeping a high enough CO2 level around it to kill any bugs that might have contaminated the food.
In this video, Clark explains the science and gives a demonstration.
