HOW TO MILK A COW BY HAND | KAKO RUČNO POMUSTI KRAVU | VILLAGE LIFE

HOW TO MILK A COW BY HAND | KAKO RUČNO POMUSTI KRAVU | VILLAGE LIFE For today’s vlog, I’ll show you how to properly milk a cow by hand. Our family cow is a Simmental Swiss Fleckvieh Breed, we call her Šarenka. My husband’s family used to have 3 female cows and each produces one or two calves each year. Now, we are down to one as owning a huge number of cows comes with great responsibility. We keep one as my mother-in-law still enjoys making and selling cheese/dairy products using our cow’s milk. We also enjoy drinking its pasteurised milk everyday. On an average, our cow can produce 10-11 litres of milk per day.🥛

Milking is done twice a day, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. You need to secure the cow’s head before you begin milking so that the cow can’t wander off, sit comfortably and make sure to wash your hands.

STEP 1 : Clean the cow’s udder (mammary gland part).

STEP 2 : Strip each teat for several times. Stripping is the process of pulling down a cow’s teat in order to pass any dirt, bacteria or other debris from the milk ducts.

STEP 3 : Begin milking by gently clamping each teat between your extend thumb and first finger so that the teat fills your palm as you squeeze down.

STEP 4 : For increasing milk yield faster, you can use both hands.

STEP 5 : To finish milking, make sure the teats are empty.

STEP 6 : Before pasteurising the fresh raw milk, sift it first to remove any debris.
