A man who mixed painkillers and prescription anti-anxiety drugs with a night of boozing was left hospitalised and faced questions over whether he had attempted SUICIDE – after forgetting to read the medication label.

Iwan Steffan, 29, from Liverpool, cracked his head open and was left covered in bruises when he accidentally combined prescribed beta blockers for his anxiety with painkillers before sharing a bottle of vodka with a friend last month.

The drugs combined into a near-lethal mix – prompting doctors and friends to whether he had been trying to kill himself when he woke up in hospital the next day.

After a two night stay to flush the concoction out of his system, Iwan has warned others to always check the label of their medications before drinking.
