Two participants on Leading Edge Group and Ontario Public Health Associations Lean Six Sigma Green Belt program will present on the improvement projects that they completed to gain certifications: Improving Customer Flow throughout VPD’s Immunization Clinics for Students, Leah Welsh, Toronto Public Health.
Toronto Public Health (TPH)'s Vaccine Preventable Diseases (VPD) program runs two main types of immunization clinics for students throughout the year (i.e. school versus community). The focus of this particular quality project was to improve the flow in community-based Immunization Clinics for Students (ICS). The high-level objective was to improve the time it takes for customers (students and students with parents) to navigate through ICS clinics. The ultimate goal was to achieve a service level of 80% of customers served within one hour.
Improving service case comments entry, Lawrencia Ntiri, The Regional Municipality of York
York Region’s Health Protection Division receives and addresses hundreds of complaints/inquiries from residents in any given month. Actions taken as a result of a complaint/inquiry are to be documented within 24 hours of the action being taken. Data shows that there is a 13% error rate associated with this process and is consistent among staff. As a result, a Lean Green Belt project was initiated to determine the root cause and come up with recommendations to address the issue.
