US bombs ‘Isis‑infested island’ I Times News The Pentagon released videos of the US air force carpet-bombing a river island in Iraq that it said was “infested with Islamic State” cells.
US F-15 and F-35 fighter jets dropped explosives on Qanus island, a river island located in the Tigris about 175 miles northwest of Baghdad which officials claim is a hideout for Isis militants.
Isis fighters have continued to mount small but regular raids in Syria and Iraq since being forced to give up the last of their territory in the siege of Baghuz, eastern Syria, in March.
