The recall is one of the most important skills for a dog to have. It can save a dog's life. If a dog is running towards a street when a car is coming, it is critical that when the dog hears his name he stops and runs to their owner. ○ The best way to train a dog to come to his name is to always give a treat when you say the dog's name.
§ To train for instant recall:
1) Release the dog to run to the treat.
2) Hold the dog's collar and toss a treat.
3) Then, call the dog's name.
4) When he returns, let him eat a treat as you grab the collar.
