Ageyo's Angle | What has my ethnicity got to do with census and planning?

Ageyo's Angle | What has my ethnicity got to do with census and planning? On my angle tonight, i revisit the census that was concluded less than a week ago. I am not sure i have heard any real answers about why what was supposed to be an anonymous exercise turned into a very personalised and specific encounter where sensitive personal information was so casually collected and the provider of that information so readily identified. I also haven’t heard any convincing responses as to how this weeklong exercise differed significantly from the much hyped huduma number drive. But my real issue tonight has to do with just one question that for me, stuck out of that long questionnaire like a sore thumb. The question about my ‘tribe’. I suppose they wanted to know the ethnic group in which i was born. Well, first, the term ‘tribe’ in itself couldn’t be more misplaced in this day and age. All around the world, the terminology is falling out of use because of the controversy over its real meaning.
