In this age of constant video game feedback between consumers and developers, it's very quickly made clear what players do and don't like. A bad ending, poor voice acting, or even a game that doesn't run at all (looking at you Mass Effect 3, Destiny, and Assassin's Creed Unity) can make or break a game, but whether or not developers and publishers decide to do anything about it is another matter.
