Most of the time when celebs are on magazine covers, they are aware of it, but Billie Eilish just found out that she is on the cover of Nylon Germany's new issue. And she’s not thrilled about it.
What’s up? It’s Emile Ennis Jr. here with Clevver News and Billie Eilish is on the cover of Nylon Germany's latest issue, which was a huge surprise to her fans. And apparently it was also a surprise for Billie.
The magazine supposedly didn't contact Billie before putting a topless, robotic version of her on their cover.
And Billie is understandably not thrilled about it.
The magazine shared the cover on Instagram and when Billie saw it, she commented on the post calling them out.
She wrote a four part very valid complaint.
Billie said quote, “what the fuck is this shit. 1. i was never approached by nylon about this piece whatsoever. i did not know it was happening nor did anyone on my team. 2. this is not even a real picture of me. i had absolutely no creative input.”
She continued on and said quote, “3. youre gonna make a picture of me shirtless?? thats not real?? at 17? and make it the cover???? even if the picture was supposed to look like some robot version of me... i did not consent in any way. 4. ANNNDDD YOU’RE GONNA REMOVE ALL MY FUCKIN HAIR? booooooooooo to you🖕”
Damn, I certainly wouldn’t want to piss Billie off like this and this certainly wasn’t right of the Nylon Germany.
Billie’s fans have come to her defense in the comments section.
One person said quote, “Stop using her for clout, it’s so disrespectful
And another said quote, “Okay but you need to delete this Billie didn’t consent to this at all so delete it now”
Nylon Germany has since responded to Billie and her outraged fans saying quote, “To you, @billieeilish & your fans: For this cover, it was never our intention to create a look that is confusing or insulting to Billie Eilish. It was only ever our intention to honor Billies impact and her work by creating this avatar which is part of a cover series highlighting the power of digital prodigy artists.”
But just in case any other publications are considering doing this, I’m just gonna go out on a whim and say it’s probably never a good idea to put someone on your cover without their consent.
And in case you need to soothe your soul after this weird series of events, here are some covers Billie has appeared on that she did know about.
Like this Rolling Stone cover, this Vogue cover, and this Billboard cover.
But I want to know what you guys think about all of this.
Do you think Nylon Germany should’ve asked Billie before using her on their cover? And which of her actual covers that she knows about is your favorite?
I’m still obsessed with the Rolling Stone one, I keep it on my desk.
