A Degree of Importance A 1960's film about the UC Davis Veterinary School. Featuring Dr. Blaine McGowan, a prominent UC Davis faculty member who's research was primarily in the area of sheep diseases. Dr. McGowan was the first recipient of the Faculty Distinguished Teacher Award in the School of Veterinary Medicine. In the 1960s he sponsored this award-winning student-produced film entitled A Degree of Importance which was used nationally to describe veterinary education to prospective students. He was Associate Dean for Student Affairs in the School of Veterinary Medicine from 1964 to 1970. The film also features class of 1971 veterinary student Roberta Syme.
