In this video I install an oil catch can on my 2003 Chevrolet Suburban with the GM 5.3L Vortec engine. The catch can is by Moroso and is model number 85481. The results were pretty shocking!
Moroso 85481Oil Separator:
In the video I talk about the 'original' pcv valve that I had initially reinstalled with the catch can install and upon start up it created a very loud vacuum sound. This original pcv valve is the fixed orifice type and is basically an empty shell of a pcv valve with a small hole in the end that controls air flow. The 'updated' version that I spoke of is the normal type with an actual valve inside. This valve shuts close with the high vacuum at idle thus eliminating the loud vacuum noise.
This Suburban is the same vehicle platform as the GMT800 Tahoe, Yukon, Silverado and Sierra.
