1. Jubilee was the 50th year after 7 weeks of years, but the 50th
jubilee from the historic dates of 457-456 BC occurred in 1994-95 when
Pope John Paul went to the UN on the Day of Atonement--the date
specified in Lev 25:9.
Then there was a 20 year gap until Pope Francis’ UN visit, also on the
Day of Atonement in 2015, but WHY a 20-year gap?
Peter says, “Be not ignorant, 1000 years are like a day, a day is like
1000 years, God is not slack...the day of the Lord will come.” 2Peter
3:8-10.
If we integrate the jubilees into 1000 years, 10 jubilees of 490 years
+ 490 more = 980. There are 20 years left over, signaled by the
popes’ visits at the end!
This suggests that papal visits at the end of the jubilee timeline
marked the end of 1000 or 6000 years when the 7th millennium brings
“the day of the Lord”—the end-time period and a time of judgment as
seen in 2Peter 3:7-10.
As the SS lesson for July 11 pointed out, God knew that over time the
wealth, and resources would tend to become concentrated in the hands
of the few. Family difficulties, ill health, poor choices, and other
misfortune might cause some landholders to sell their lands for
short-term gain or simply to survive.
“The regulations that God established were designed to promote social
equality. The provisions of the sabbatical year and the jubilee would,
in a great measure, set right that which during the interval had gone
wrong in the social and political economy of the nation” Patriarchs &
Prophets, p. 534.
Think of it now, not on a personal level, but after 6,000 years, God
is about to get His land back, and He is going to give it to Abraham’s
seed--that was the covenant that God made with Abraham in Genesis
15:17.
We should anticipate that the image beast of Revelation 13, UN New
World Order being an image of Old World Order of the papacy, it will
compel false worship as described in Rev 13:14-18, and God, knowing
how to give good gifts to His children, will give us the land of the
covenant for freedom of worship on Sabbath until Satan personates
Christ and claims he changed it.
We should see the parallel to Israel when they left Egypt, but were
afraid of giants. We see giant problems now--but do we have faith in
God’s Word?
Maybe we need some “lesser light” that leads to the greater light? Do
we know the title that Ellen White gave to her last book? Most people
don’t, because publishers changed it, obscuring an important message
for our time..
The Captivity & Restoration of Israel was changed to Prophets & Kings.
Her title was based on Jer 30:3--God said, “I will bring again the
captivity of my
people, Israel and Judah, and cause them to return to the land that I
gave their fathers…though I make a full end of all other nations” Jer
30:3,11.
This is the context for the New Covenant Promise to write His laws in
our hearts so we want to do the right thing. Without it, we wouldn’t
be safe to go to heaven--we could start trouble all over again--we’ve
overlooked the context of the New Covenant Promise in Jeremiah
31:8,16,17,31-33.
While this is not what we might want to do, we should take a closer
look. God is going to make a full end of all other nations, Jer 30:11.
Do we want to be doing our own thing in a land schedule for
destruction?
God’s messenger said, “Houses and lands will be of no use to the
saints in the time of trouble, for they will then have to flee before
infuriated mobs, and at that time their possessions cannot be disposed
of to advance the cause of present truth. I was shown that it is the
will of God that the saints should cut loose from every encumbrance
before the time of trouble comes, and make a covenant with God through
sacrifice.” EW 56
Did we notice the word “covenant.” That’s how Israel became God’s
kingdom (Exod 19:5,6) and bride, Jer 3:14. When foolish virgins come a
little late, they hear, I know you not.” Matt 25:12. That’s also what
many will hear when they say, Lord…we did many wonderful things in
your name.” Matt 7:22,23. Why?
The word for ‘know’ is ginosko, and it means knowing as in marriage or
covenant. The preface to Luke’s wedding parable needs some focus:
“Fear not little flock, it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you
the kingdom. Sell what you have.” Luke 12:32,33
