This is the coolest hand dug well I have ever explored. This well served an old homestead that was long gone and probably abandoned around the time of the American Civil War or earlier. The well has a great supply of cool, clear water and was dug partially is solid rock. If you look, you van see where the well diggers hand drilled the solid limestone to blast the hole deeper. Seeing how the well was designed and constructed was very surprising. As a bonus, in the bottom of the well was a whole community of isopods!
