Fat Loss Is NOT A "Slow" Process (People Are Just Impatient!)
In today's video I challenge the commonly held idea that fat loss is a "slow and gradual process" and offer a different perspective when it comes to losing fat and getting lean.
I understand that "slow" and "fast" are subjective terms, but if you really break the fat burning process down piece by piece and weigh it off against your life as a whole, then with the proper cutting diet and workout in place you can actually lose fat relatively quickly.
It's not that fat loss is a "slow" process - people are just impatient and expect too much too quickly.
Although article or videos with titles such as "burn fat fast", "lose fat quickly" or "fast fat loss diet" may seem a bit misleading, it's not entirely inaccurate depending on your perspective.
How long does it take to lose fat?
Fat loss rates will vary depending on the person and their situation, but on average, most people should be able to burn fat at a rate of about 1-2 pounds per week.
That means in 1 month you can lose somewhere between 4-8 pounds... in 2 months 8-16 pounds... in 3 months, 12-24 pounds. (Keep in mind that these are just estimates and if you want to go slower than this that's fine too)
In my view, any process where you can see results that quickly should not be thought of as "slow", whether your goal is to simply lose 10 pounds or to lose 30 pounds or more.
For some people 3 months might be all they need to reach their ultimate fat loss goals. For others maybe it will take a bit longer and require 6 months. For others, maybe a year.
In any case, these are not long time frames when you consider how fast a week goes by and that it only represents anywhere from 0.3-1% of an average 80 year lifespan. And even if you don't reach your final fat burning goal in that period, you'll still have made very significant physique progress nonetheless.
In addition, fat loss won't be the only benefit you'll experience. You'll likely also gain muscle along the way, increase your strength, boost your cardiovascular fitness and overall health, increase your confidence and mood etc.
So, rather than thinking of the fat burning process as this long, arduous journey you'll have to slowly grind through, instead try shifting your perspective on what it means for something to be "slow" or "fast" in the first place.
That way your cutting program will become a lot more manageable in your mind and it will increase your motivation levels so that you can see the process through all the way to the end without getting discouraged.
