BJP Asansol (West Bengal), Apr 19 (UNI) Scared of Prime Minister's popularity and the immense impact it will have on voters in the state, the Trinamool Congress run administration is denying 'permission' for election rallies by Narendra Modi in the state, the BJP leaders have alleged here.According to local BJP leaders here, the administration has not clarified yet on whether the saffron party can organise rally at Asansol's Polo Ground here on April 23.On similar ground, as there has been lukewarm response to BJP's request for a rally by Prime Minister at Bolpur (Shantiniketan), the saffron outfit is now planning to shift the venue for the April 24 public rally to Rampurhat or Suri. The rally in Suri or Rampurhat will be important considering BJP's attempts to gain ground in Birbhum region.Local leaders said the BJP central leadership was keen for Mr Modi's rally at the Polo ground at Asansol as he had addressed a meeting on the same spot in 2016. But the Asansol administration has so far not not able to commit anything about the venue yet.Sources in the office of Asansol mayor Jitendra Kumar Tiwari said the Polo Ground is booked from April 20 till April 26 for different programmes and that is why there is a practical problem in holding Mr Modi's rally here on April 23.BJP leader Tapas Roy said the saffron party formally applied for the permission to hold the rally at Polo Ground on April 11 itself and then none told them about other programmes organised at the same venue. A section in the BJP has threatened to move court if the ground was not given for the Prime Minister’s rally.“No one told us that the Polo ground had already been booked while we applied for it." Mr Roy said.In Birbhum, the BJP has approached the district officials for the Dak Bungalow ground at Bolpur.Meanwhile, sources in the local administration said the Dak Bunglow ground has been allotted on April 24 to the CPI-M for a rally to be addressed by the party's state secretary Surjyakanta Mishra.
